Catalyst fund projects
Catalyst funds aim to enhance collaboration between industry and researchers during early concept development, promoting the transition of new ideas to higher maturity levels through financial support and access to industrial collaboration environments.
The second call for the Catalyst Funds will open in the spring of 2025.
Fist wave project winners
Here’s the list of the seven projects which won the first call.
- Decision support tool for vertiport site selection (by Nommon). The main goal of this project is to build a decision support tool for vertiport site selection.
- GenAI models for ATM (by Nommon). The goal of this project is to investigate and demostrate the potential of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) for enhancing the ATM system.
- ChatMET (by Metsafe). The goal of this project is to develop a simple natural language solution to access historical meteorological information to enhance service for ATM.
- QWIRTTA (by Linköping University). The goal of this project is to determinate when and how it can be ensured thet U-plans rarely change due to weather.
- HYPERSTREAM (by NeoMetSys). The goal of this project is to evaluate the performance of flight centric approach compared with current ATFM/ATC management.
- Enlighten the dark aircraft cabin (by University of the Bundeswehr Munich). The goal of this project is to create and utilize a digital aircraft cabin environment for the testing of digital boarding solutions.
- MEDUSA (by Aviant AS). The goal of this project is to develop a model for prediction of drone traffic hotspots in the airspace around European airports, based on the market potential of drone deliveries.
Additional informations
Catalyst projects will be awarded in two waves, with the potential for additional projects to receive support. Each project offers significant opportunities for concept development and maturity.
The two calls for funding will be open for two months and announced on the Funding and Tenders Portal, Engage 2 Wiki and Engage 2 website.
Evaluation and awards will be conducted by the Awards Board. Projects funded in the first call may also receive funding in the second call, with a maximum total support of €60k per entity.
Each project will run for up to 12 months and conclude with a final technical report.
Proposals should demonstrate original contributions to the state of the art and can focus on thematic challenges or be “open”. Submissions can come from single entities or consortia of two to four entities located in eligible countries.
